Lady Gaga has publicly spoken out after performing in front of a 2.5 million-strong crowd in Brazil. The 39-year-old singer's concert was part of the promotional tour for her eighth album, Mayhem, whose songs include Abracadabra and Die With a Smile. She last performed in Brazil in 2012. Speaking out to her fans, she stated she is "grateful" for her fans and felt "absolute pride and joy [...] singing for the people of Brazil". Lady Gaga did not specifically address the news that two people had been arrested by police after they discovered a terrifying plan to bomb the concert. The duo was allegedly plotting to use Molotov cocktails in the attack.

She wrote on Instagram: "Nothing could prepare me for the feeling I had during last night’s show—the absolute pride and joy I felt singing for the people of Brazil.

"The sight of the crowd during my opening songs took my breath away. Your heart shines so bright, your culture is so vibrant and special, I hope you know how grateful I am to have shared this historical moment with you."

According to Brazilian news-based TV channel GloboNews, the Ministry of Justice and Public Security managed to identify the bomb threat hours before the concert was due to commence.

It is believed that the focus of the terrorists was on the LGBTQIA+ community, teenagers, and children. Lady Gaga's followers are affectionately known as 'Little Monsters', and the plan to weed out the culprits is being dubbed 'Operation Fake Monster.'

According to earlier reports, police had been investigating persons who were attempting to recruit individuals to carry out attacks using improvised explosives and Molotov cocktails.

So far, Brazilian police have reportedly raided nine addresses, including Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo, connected to the terror plot. They were able to obtain several suspicious electronic devices they believe could be evidence.

City officials have confirmed that more than two million people attended the free gig on Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro on Saturday evening.

Lady Gaga's concert is reportedly set to break a new record. Attracting over 2.5 million people, it was the largest crowd for a female artist in history and will overtake pop rival Madonna.
