A brand new train journey has been unveiled, taking people around the world in 100 days for the cost of nearly £113,000. The Adventures by Train tour is set to whisk a select group of 12 passengers around the globe, from London to Tokyo and then to North America via the iconic Queen Mary 2 liner, all without the need for a plane. Offering an exclusive "Around the World by Train in 100 days" experience for £112,900 per person – with a couples' discount at £89,950pp – this epic journey includes full-service luxury.

Travellers will benefit from their own tour leader during most of their adventure, lavish accommodation, delicious meals, first-class tickets, and cruise trips. Additional perks include private transfers by car or minibus, ferry trips, sightseeing excursions, and all entrance fees to a list of attractions.

Tim Louth, creator of the Adventures by Train odyssey, told The Telegraph: "You can't just pick a date and expect it all to slot into place.

"You're dealing with trains that run once a week, ships that sail twice a year, and borders that are still catching up with the 20th century. You've got to choreograph everything around that."

A central part of the trip is the magnificent journey across the Pacific on a 21-night cruise, which leaves Tokyo for Vancouver every spring in time for the Alaskan cruising season.

The route also takes a more southerly path, weaving through Turkey, the Caucasus and Central Asia. This comes as countries like Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan have now opened up to British travellers with visa-free access.

Only China now requires a traditional visa, which must be applied for in person. 

The itinerary also incorporates several "buffer" days – extra time between trains, should there be any changes in the timetable or delays.

Along the journey, guests can anticipate a few "signature moments" – including dining at Michelin-starred restaurants. A standout highlight is the three-star Taian Table in Shanghai.

For Mr Louth, the highlight of the trip is the three-week stretch through the American West. After landing in Vancouver, the group heads south to Seattle to board Amtrak's Empire Builder to Montana's Glacier National Park.

From there, a private road trip meanders through Montana, Wyoming, South Dakota and Colorado.
