Steve Bannon, ex-White House Chief Strategist, believes that Trump could secure a third term in office. Hinting at his future plans, Trump's company has started selling red hats with "Trump 2028" emblazoned on them.

"There are methods which you could do it. President Trump is going to be eligible, is going to run again, and will win again," stated Bannon, who offered counsel from January 2017 until August 2017 and remains in touch with Trump, on the podcast 'Apocalypse Now?'.

Now hosting his own daily live podcast, Bannon confidently predicted to the Mirror: "I will tell you, on the afternoon of the 20th January of 2029, he's going be in the White House signing executive orders.", reports the Daily Star.

Despite the US constitution imposing a two-term limit on presidents, Trump has previously suggested there are "methods"—albeit not specific "plans"—to circumvent this rule to maintain his grip on power.

Speaking on the Daily Mail podcast with David Patrikarakos, Bannon insisted that the 78 year old former President would navigate past the two-term threshold. Fuelling controversial rhetoric claiming Joe Biden "stole" the 2020 election, Bannon added: "The whole reason he came back and ran again was his burning conviction that he had won in 2020, it had been stolen..

"His inner group and our audience - almost to a person, I think it's almost 100 per cent - believe strongly to the core of their being that the 2020 election was stolen."

Despite his brief return as US President, Trump has already sounded alarms over a looming economic slump. His ramped-up trade war measures have prompted central banks to mull over interest rate cuts to stimulate spending among consumers and businesses.

The global political climate remains tense. Steve Bannon concedes that Trump is keen to dodge a "kinetic war" with China by engaging Beijing with "respect" and seeking "some sort of accommodation".

Yet, with concerns mounting over China's potential designs on Taiwan – which it considers a renegade province destined for reunification by 2027 – Bannon, at 71, supports the president's diplomatic approach towards China.

Following a four-month stint in jail last year for contempt of Congress, Bannon stated: "I think President Trump's doing what a world leader and the leader of the free world and the president of United States and our commander-in-chief should do - to show the guys respect and try to make sure that we can get some sort of accommodation."
