Reconciliation between Prince Harry and the Royal Family will be "a very long time in coming" after the Duke of Sussex's latest bombshell BBC interview, claims royal expert Jennie Bond. Since stepping back from royal duties in 2020, Harry has experienced a strained relationship with members of his family - in particular King Charles and Prince William.

The Duke, 40, now resides in California with Meghan Markle and their two children, Prince Archie, 5, and three-year-old Princess Lilibet. Ms Bond now claims that, after the latest attack, Harry is very unlikely to change his father and older brother's minds - and could have ruined any possible chance for reconciliation.

Despite Harry openly admitting that he would love to reconcile, Ms Bond told the Mirror: "Dream on Harry. You may be right in feeling that you deserve the same level of security as other people who have quit public life – but this was definitely not the way to forge any reconciliation with the family you were born into. And that invitation may be a very long time in coming."

During the interview, Harry also claimed that his father is "not speaking to him" - with the pair having been feuding for some time. It also remains unclear when Harry last spoke to Prince William.

Ms Bond also added: "Father and son are not talking; Harry would like to be reconciled and has "forgiven his father, brother and stepmother" [for exactly what remains unclear], but that he cannot come to the UK with his family with the level of security he believes he needs unless he is invited."

Speaking before the inteview aired, a friend of King Charles has revealed how he is feeling about his youngest son's latest attack.

They told The Sun that it would have been "constitutionally improper" for the King to intervene in the court case.

They also added : "What has frustrated and upset him on a more personal level is the Duke’s failure to respect this principle.

"And for his supporters to suggest that somehow his father doesn’t care about his family, or should step in. He’s been particularly concerned that it has taken considerable resources and cost for the Government to defend their position."

Harry and Meghan announced their plans to step down from royal duties in January 2020. The couple, who later moved to the US with their son, welcomed their daughter one year after settling into life in Calfornia.
