The King and Queen will travel to Canada later this month, Buckingham Palace has announced. They will make the long haul trip on May 26-27.
Their Majesties will visit the country to attend The State Opening of the Parliament of Canada in Ottawa. Their visit will be Charles' twentieth visit to Canada and Queen Camilla's fifth. The overseas trip will come almost two months after their latest overseas engagements in Italy.
The King is the Head of State in Canada, and has constitutional responsibilities but no political role.
His visit comes following Mark Carney's election victory.
The King, 76, previously met Mark Carney at Buckingham Palace on March 17 for a private audience. This was after Carney was sworn in as Canada's new Prime Minister after Justin Trudeau stepped down following nine years in power.
The monarch's visit to Canada later this month will be his first trip to the country since taking to the throne. His last trip to Canada was in May 2022, when he visited Newfoundland, Ottawa and the Northwest Territories.
