Discussing his middle-aged obsession with gardening, handsome devil Dominic West, cheekily suggests it’s replaced the previous passion in his life. “I suppose you get to a certain age,” The Crown star, 55, remarks. “I never even looked at a tree until I was about 50. Then suddenly, I think as your libido dissipates, you realise there are trees and plants around!”
Speculation about the married father-of-five’s libido has certainly been a talking point in the past: wed to Irish aristocrat Catherine FitzGerald for 15 years, West was forgiven by his spouse after publication of awkwardly affectionate photos with beautiful co-star Lily James in 2020. Spotted kissing young Lily’s neck while the pair were in Rome, he later described the resulting furore as an “absurd situation”. Best to focus on pruning those roses, Dominic!

Another week and another Hollywood star finding himself on the receiving end of catty criticism from veteran actor Brian Cox. This time it’s Jake Gyllenhaal in the Scotsman’s sights, after Cox cuttingly announces the American’s performance in the current Othello production on Broadway is “not particularly wonderful”.
The latest dig follows Brian’s similarly scathing assessments of Oscar-winner Joaquin Phoenix and former Succession co-star Jeremy Strong; before that, there was the 2021 memoir when Cox couldn’t resist taking jabs at Sir Ian McKellen, Sir Michael Caine and Johnny Depp, to name but three.
