While on the set of Celebrity Bear Hunt in the hot climate of Costa Rica, Holly Willoughby's makeup guru, Patsy O’Neill, divulged that she used Ultra Violette’s Daydream Screen Tinted Veil SPF50 on the famous presenter, reports OK!. Offering hefty sun protection and a radiant finish and light texture, it ensured Holly’s face stayed both shielded and TV-ready amid the intense filming schedule.

Tempted by how impeccable her skin appeared - and my own battles with makeup sliding over SPF - I tested the Daydream Screen Tinted Veil myself. Regularly priced at a steep £38 and sold by upscale shops like Cult Beauty, some colours are now snagging a bargain for £26.60 at Sephora, so it’s a good time to see if your match is reduced.

Ditching the typical density of SPF products, the product feels more like a fluid foundation, allowing easy blending. Beware of applying too much. You’ll only need a dab, and I found it applied easily with my fingers.

With 15 different hues, the tinted moisturiser gives more than a mere hint of colour. It gave my skin a soft-to-medium coverage that smoothed out complexion irregularities and masked my red spots and blemishes.

I usually avoid shiny bases as they tend to amplify oiliness, but this struck a perfect balance on my skin.

Admittedly, the Daydream Screen Tinted Veil did leave a slightly sticky feeling post-application, but a swift sweep of translucent powder on areas like my nose and under eyes quickly rectified that. The stickiness also vanished once it had absorbed into my skin.

Other cosmetics, such as blushers, bronzers, and highlighters, blended seamlessly over the top. I trialled both powder and liquid formulas to confirm their compatibility, and once applied, there was no separation or movement.

The Daydream Screen Tinted Veil is fortified with Pentivitin, which claims to moisturise the skin, making it a must-have for your summer makeup collection. It doesn’t contain any silicones, oils and alcohols, which the brand says makes it suitable for all skin types, including my sensitive and eczema-prone skin.

Naturally, the major selling point is its SPF50 content, shielding your face from UVA and UVB rays. However, it’s intended to be used as an additional sunscreen layered over your regular SPF, facilitating easier daily reapplication.
