A royal expert has spoken out about the relationship between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Hugo Vickers claimed that the Duke of Sussex is "petrified" of his wife but also "petrified" of losing her.

Discussing Meghan's latest Netflix series With Love, which features the Duchess of Sussex sharing cooking and gardening tips, the royal commentator said she is "latching on to things". He explained how "it's hard to see" where Meghan's ventures are leading.

Mr Vickers, a royal biographer and broadcaster, said: "There are other people who are much better people at telling you these things, there are other people who are better at doing cookery programmes, there are other people who are better at advising how to fund a business.

"They're sort of latching on to things, well she is in particular, and it's hard to see where it's going. I hate to say it but my feeling at the end of the day is that Prince Harry is petrified of her and petrified of losing her."

Matt Wilkinson, the Royal Editor of The Sun, added: "There was an article in the United States that said she's just awful but he's an enabler. It's almost like he's aware but can't actually get out of it all."

It was previously reported how Netflix bosses "regretted" their £85m deal with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry following backlash against With Love. The series has not gone down well with UK or US viewers, receiving a wave of criticism.

A source exclusively told the Express that Netflix bosses are regretting their decision to invest in the former TV star. This is despite them announcing that the show has been recommissioned for a second series.

The insider said: "It doesn’t matter how much Netflix try and spin this, With Love, Meghan has not been a success either critically or commercially. It’s been savaged by critics the world over, sure there have been a few lukewarm reviews of the series, but in general it’s been poorly received.

"Meghan and the Netflix PR machine tried to gloss over the failure by having the Duchess post on social media that the show had broken into the top ten rankings, but it just as quickly dropped out again. Even the SAG Awards, which aired in February, is still in the Top 10 Global list and has been pretty consistently while Meghan’s show is nowhere to be seen."
