Meghan Markle has welcomed her close friend Jamie Kern Lima as her next guest during episode four of her podcast series, Confessions of a Female Founder. Released on Tuesday, the Duchess sat down with co-founder of It Cosmetics and L'Oreal's first female CEO and her "rocking chair friend" Jamie to speak about the importance of resilience and trusting your instincts.
The two women stressed they importance of being "seen" as they chatted about Jaime's struggles to get her brand up and going. The appearance came one day after Meghan appeared on Jamie's self-titled podcast and opened up about the need the "prove herself." On Jamie's podcast, the duchess said she is "done" with having to prove herself.
She said: "We spend so much of our lives trying to prove something, to prove that you're enough, you have to prove that you're pretty enough, you have to prove you're smart enough, you have to prove that you're a good wife or a good friend. "And I was like 'I am just so done with the proving game and if you can't see it, I don't need to prove to you why that's your loss.
"I know that I'm a great friend, and I know the kind of mum I am, and I know the kind of human being I am, and I know how I show up. And I love being able to be that person with the people that I love."
Meghan also said that she is enjoying a new "honeymoon" feeling with her husband since the pair got "a little bit of breathing space" after stepping back from their royal duties in 2020.
She said the couple struggled to fully enjoy one another's company early in their relationship as they were quickly put into "the trenches" by the media spotlight.
The duchess said: "You have to imagine at the beginning, everyone has, like, butterflies.
"Then we immediately went into the trenches together. Yeah, right out of the gate, like six months into dating.
"So now, seven years later, when you have a little bit of breathing space, you can just enjoy each other in a new way, and that's why I feel like it's more of a honeymoon period for us now."
The duchess praised her husband for keeping the family "safe".
"He's just out there, just constant, like he's just going to do whatever he can to make sure that our family is safe and protected and we're uplifted and still make time for date nights," Meghan said.
"He's also a fox. If you haven't noticed, my husband's very, very handsome. But his heart is even more beautiful," she added.
