The Princess of Wales seemingly stood by her wish to have her long brunette hair down on her wedding day. Not many royal fans know that the move by Princess Kate saw her broke a 350-year royal tradition.
Kate married Prince William, 40, on this day at Westminster Abbey in 2011. According to the documentary, 'William & Kate: The Journey', Kate was encouraged by royal officials to wear her hair up, something she stood firmly against.
Speaking in the documentary, royal expert Ashley Pearson said: "Royal sources tell me that the royals indicated very strongly to Kate that they would prefer her to wear her hair up for this very special occasion."
Typically custom for royal brides to wear their hair up for their nuptials, the expert explained further: "Kate had her heart set on wearing her hair down with long flowing curls, which is her favourite way to wear it and actually William's favourite as well.
"They ended up compromising on her look."
The royal hairstylist who was responsible for creating Kate's look was stylist James Pryce - Richard Ward Salon.
The Prince and Princess of Wales are celebrating their 14th wedding anniversary today, with the pair paying a visit to where their love story began back in the early 2000s.
Kate and William - now parents of three children - will be arriving in Mull today. Taking to Instagram yesterday, the couple have shared their excitement with a "beautiful" video of clips of Scotland.
The caption read, "Looking forward to arriving in Mull tomorrow for two days celebrating and connecting with rural island communities in the beautiful Inner Hebrides", following by the Scottish flag emoji.
The clips capture the beautiful sights of Mull, which is the second-largest island of the Inner Hebrides and lies off the west coast of Scotland in the council area of Argyll and Bute.
