Kelly Brook has lifted the lid on her best kept gardening secrets that will leave fans with a garden in bloom all summer long. Model and presenter Kelly has been a keen gardener for many years when she’s not working in front of the cameras or dominating the airwaves.
The Loose Women star, 45, previously lived in the heart of Kent with her loving husband where she boasted an enormous garden. Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk, the Heart FM presenter – who has collaborated with SlimFast for their ‘Tasty Tasty Good’ campaign – has revealed the real reason why she moved out. Speaking about her previous garden, she gushed: “I mean I used to have a very big garden, it was a hobby.
“That was my go-to and it was so good for my mental wellbeing. I just loved it so much, it was my sanctuary. But as I got older, my back started getting a bit cranky. Honestly, I had such a bad back from gardening. So I had to tone it down a little bit and now I’ve got a much smaller garden.
“It’s totally beautiful but it’s a lot less maintenance because my last garden was very hilly, it just played havoc with my hips and my back. But I still love gardening and all my bulbs are coming up at the moment, and that gives me so much joy every year, seeing my flowers in bloom.”
As the warmer months roll in, Kelly shared some of her best kept gardening tips to the perfect garden in bloom. The Piranha 3D star revealed: "At the moment I've got a lot of planters, and I would say the easiest thing in the world if you're not a great gardener is just throwing seeds into planters with some multi-purpose compost in a pot.
"Make sure there's drainage in the bottom, chuck in some cosmos seeds and that will give you flowers all summer. And the more you cut the cosmos, the more they come back, so I like flowers that are good inside the house and outside."
Kelly went on to share her favourite flowers to grow in her stunning garden and what plants are worth the money for Brits up and down the country. She revealed: "I love cuttings from my garden and dahlias I love.
"The more you cut dahlias, the more they grow. I like it when it's not a bad thing to cut the flowers for inside, and for this time of year, I'd be thinking about cosmos and dahlias.
"You're a bit late now with the sweet bulbs in October, but if you want something for summer into late summer, I'd say cosmos and dahlias, especially the cafe au lait ones. I call them dinner plate dahlias because they're huge and they're stunning.
"You do need to stake them but the minute you cut them, they'll come back straight away. Honestly, you'll have them for three months, I used to have just bunches of dahlias constantly."
But this isn't the only hobby the radio presenter has thrown herself into, with another being her newfound passion for running. Kelly recently completed the London Marathon on Sunday (April 27) after training with her husband for over a year.
