Meghan Markle has been caught using her 'HRH' title on a gift card, flouting the agreement made with the late Queen Elizabeth as part of the Megxit conditions. The 43 year old Duchess sent a gift basket to a podcast presenter, including a card stating: "with the compliments of HRH, Duchess of Sussex".

The Duchess of Sussex featured in her inaugural podcast interview on Jamie Kern Lima's show, the founder of IT Cosmetics. During the conversation, she divulged details about her children and discussed her latest business venture, As Ever.

The decision for Prince Harry and Meghan to relinquish their 'HRH' titles was cemented at the so-called "Sandringham Summit", also known as "Megxit". This crucial conference took place on January 13, 2020, at Queen Elizabeth II's Sandringham estate in Norfolk, England.

This summit brought together key members of the Royal family – Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Charles, Prince William, and Prince Harry – to deliberate over the Sussexes' choice to step down from their senior Royal duties. Meghan Markle contributed to the discussions remotely from Canada, where she resided with their son, Archie.

Kate Middleton and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, did not attend the summit, which was restricted to the principals of the four Royal households. It was during this assembly that it was decided Harry and Meghan would no longer use the 'HRH' moniker, reports The Mirror.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, have confirmed on their official website that they will retain their 'HRH' prefix, thus formally remaining known as His Royal Highness The Duke of Sussex and Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Sussex. However, they will no longer actively use these titles from Spring 2020 as they step back from being working members of the Royal family.

This decision was first announced on Instagram on January 8, where they expressed their intention to "step back as 'senior' members" of the British Royal family. The late Queen had released a statement at the time, expressing her support for their desire to carve out a new life, albeit with a preference for them to remain full-time working royals.

Key outcomes of the so-called Sandringham Summit included a transition period allowing the Sussexes to split their time between the UK and Canada, thereby establishing a more independent life while still being part of the Royal family.

Harry and Meghan also voiced their wish to become financially independent, renouncing public funds and the Sovereign Grant which previously financed their official duties. In addition, the couple agreed to stop using their "Royal Highness" titles, to relinquish official military appointments, and to withdraw from the Royal Rota media system, aiming for greater control over their public image.

In the interview, Meghan Markle lavished commendation on Prince Harry for his unwavering support while she embarked on her entrepreneurial journey and fondly recollected the initial phase of their courtship when they endeavoured to maintain privacy. She fondly recalled the "butterflies" that marked the start of their romance but revealed the moment news about them dating became public, claiming they "went into the trenches together."
