The whole of Spain, as well as parts of Portugal and France, have been affected by a massive power outage on Monday, April 28.
Key cities including Madrid, Seville and Lisbon - have been hit by a power outage leaving residents without electricty and mobile signal.
Parts of Madrid underground have been evacuated and traffic lights in the city are not working, according to local media. In Valencia the metro has announced that it has suspended service across the entire network.
In Barcelona thousands of passengers have been evacuated after the blackout left the metro service in Barcelona, according to Spanish news site El Mundo.
Madrid's Barajas international is without power. Both arrivals and departures are delayed.
Gibraltar appears to be the only region on the Iberian peninsula with electricity.
Play has been suspended at the Madrid Open tennis tournament. Two singles matches and one doubles match at the ATP Masters 1000 event were underway when power was lost.
The reason for the blackout is currently unknown.
Spanish power grid operator Red Electrica says it is working with energy companies to restore power.
In a statement on X Red Electrica said: "Plans activated to restore electricity supply in collaboration with sector companies following the blackout that occurred in the peninsular system.
"The causes are being analyzed, and all resources are being dedicated to resolving it. We will keep you informed."
