Amanda Owen admitted a “red mist” descended over her after her ex-husband Clive’s latest move. The Our Yorkshire Farm couple – who share nine children together – announced their split in 2022 after 22 years of marriage, but they’re still filming TV projects together and have recently teamed up for Channel 4 series Our Farm Next Door: Amanda, Clive and Kids.

She was left fighting tears as she recounted one instance of the pair nearly falling out while filming their new series after divorcing. She explained that in one episode “Clive starts trying to tell me how to use the internet. That was definitely tear-jerking in a painful manner, in that mansplaining way. 

“I definitely felt the tears coming – then the red mist.” She went on to admit to The Mirror: “You get to see the rough with the smooth on the farm. We aren’t The Waltons! […] It’s like one of these home renovation projects, but Laurence Llewellyn-Bowen I ain’t.” 

And despite the family’s idyllic image and the kids regularly getting stuck in on the farm, Amanda admitted they still go on their phones like everyone else. She revealed: “They love nothing more than getting online.” She admitted that living in “judgmental times” means that it’s “hard” for parents to ever do the right thing.

Clive has previously opened up on the cause of his split from Amanda, admitting: “If I’m honest about it, I didn’t want to accept that I was no longer the breadwinner for our family. It was especially hard knowing that Amanda, who is a very beautiful woman, would be going out all dressed up to launches and events and meeting other people."

The pair shared a 21-year age gap, with Amanda only being 21 when she first met her future husband, who was 42 at the time.

Clive added in 2024: “ wanted to keep her to myself and for her not to leave the farm. That’s really when the relationship started to go bad, I suppose – about five years ago. I was angry and drinking a lot of whisky. It was my way to cope, but it led to arguments, and as my behaviour got worse, it was too much for Amanda to bear.

“I know she dreaded coming home because she knew what was coming and that I would start a fight. My anger drove Amanda away.”
