The Sussexes are reportedly ‘desperate’ to reconnect with the Waleses, according to a royal source. The two royal couples, who were last seen together at Queen Elizabeth’s memorial in September 2022, are reportedly not on speaking terms.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are hoping to ‘trigger a truce’, a royal source told The New York Times. The insider said: “Meghan’s desperate to come across as the bigger person and end this feud between them — appearing like some sort of royal saviour could only do her image good.” They added: “Their hope is that (Princess Kate’s return to work) might take some of the heat off them and possibly trigger a truce with her and William, and with the King, too."

When Princess Kate came under the spotlight for editing a picture for her 2024 Mother’s Day post, Harry allegedly asked Markle to ‘reach out’ to her.

An insider told OK! magazine: “Harry thinks it might be the perfect time for Meghan to reach out to Kate because she knows what it’s like to come under fire from the public and the press.”

They added: “Harry wants his family to return to the UK, and he knows that the only way that will happen is if Meghan can repair her fractured relationship with Kate.”

The Sussexes' get-well-soon message to the Princess of Wales read: “We wish health and healing for Kate and the family, and hope they are able to do so privately and in peace.”

However, this reportedly backfired and left Prince William ‘furious’. A friend of the Wales family told The Daily Beast, “William takes offence at people calling Catherine ‘Kate,’ because she has asked to be known as Catherine.

“I’m sure Meghan wouldn’t like it if William started publicly calling her ‘Meghan Markle’. Those of us who know William understand that it is one of the things that pushes his buttons.”
