Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are likely to be unhappy about a decision made by Prince William last week, a royal expert has revealed. Jason Knauf, who was communications secretary to both the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and Prince William and Catherine at one time, has been named the next chief executive of the Earthshot Prize, founded by Prince William.
While William, 42, is believed to share a close relationship with Knauf, the same cannot be said for Harry and Meghan - who quit royal life in 2020. This is because after the couple quit royal life, an email that Knauf had written to Simon Case, William’s then private secretary, about concerns over Meghan's behaviour to Palace staff was leaked. The email had been sent in 2018.
The email read: "I am very concerned that the duchess was able to bully two PAs out of the household in the past year. The treatment of X was totally unacceptable."
This led to the duchess receiving plenty of public criticism, with Buckingham Palace also launching an internal investigation. Meghan has always denied any accusations of bullying or mistreating staff. Richard Eden for The Daily Mail said that William's decision to hire Knauf as the next chief executive of the Earthshot Prize will not be liked by Harry.
Eden wrote: "William’s decision to hand Knauf such an important role will no doubt horrify Harry and Meghan."
