Donald Trump seemingly reacted to a prompt given to him by Melania Trump during a key moment of Pope Francis's funeral on Saturday morning. During a part of the Catholic service, during which attendees are invited to exchange a "sign of peace" by shaking hands with people near them, the US First Lady seemingly invited her husband to take part in the rite.

According to lip reading expert Nicola Hickling from Lip Reader Limited, Melania gave Mr Trump a five-word prompt. Speaking on behalf of Oddspedia, she told the Express that Melania appeared to have told the US President: "You should go do it." The First Lady, Ms Hickling said, seemingly repeated herself once again while getting closer to her husband. He then appeared to reply to her: "Oh, alright". Trump shook hands with the French President, Emmanuel Macron, after doing the same with the Finnish President Alexander Stubb.

Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky spoke about the war in Ukraine before Francis' funeral.

A photograph of the two leaders showed them sat opposite one another on chairs within St Peter’s Basilica, after both had paid their respects in front of the pontiff’s coffin.

The pair “had a very productive discussion”, White House communications director Steven Cheung said.

Mr Zelensky’s spokesperson, Serhii Nykyforov, said the meeting lasted around 15 minutes.

Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer and France’s Emmanuel Macron could also been alongside the American and Ukrainian presidents in a different photo.

As he touched down in Rome on Friday night, President Trump called for Ukraine and Russia to meet “at very high levels” as a deal is now “very close” to being agreed.

Earlier this week, the US President wrote in a post on Truth Social after Russian attacks on Kyiv killed at least 12 people and injured 90 others overnight into Thursday: "Not necessary, and very bad timing. Vladimir, STOP!"

Trump has also said that he is "putting a lot of pressure" on both sides to end the war in Ukraine.
