Penny Lancaster has opened up about an "icing on the cake" moment within her extensive blended family with rock legend Sir Rod Stewart. Chatting with Coleen Nolan on Loose Women: The Podcast, Penny delved into life with the Maggie May hitmaker's large brood.
Sir Rod is father to eight children: Sarah, Kimberly, Sean, Ruby, Renee, Liam, Alastair Wallace, and Aiden Patrick with five different women, including Susannah Boffey, Alana Stewart, Rachel Hunter, and his current spouse, Penny herself. Coleen probed into how Penny manages to merge such a sprawling family unit.
The 54-year-old model reflected on the complexities of blending families, admitting she's still unsure how she would cope in a "divorce situation", where her kids would spend holidays with a "new wife."
She confessed that if her own children were younger, she might have felt "more anxieties" about them vacationing with a stepmother, worrying about another person's "influence" or making decisions she might not agree with.
However, Penny acknowledged the perspective of the mothers of Rod's children, saying she "really did take into account" their feelings while spending time with the kids, and "could only imagine" the challenges faced by children of divorce.
Wrapping up the heartfelt discussion, Coleen questioned whether Penny could handle such a scenario now as a mother.
Penny assured her that with her boys now being more grown-up, she wouldn't have any issues with it today.
The former model then opened up about the close-knit ties within her blended family with rock legend Rod, highlighting a touching moment that came as a result of a wedding.
She said: "You know, my children, I made sure that they got to know Rachel and Kelly and Alana. And, you know, I'd go to see Liam's hockey game and Rachel would be there; my little boys would be there."
She further gushed: "And I think the best gift of all is that Liam, Rachel's son, recently got married last summer, and he asked my son to be his best man, so, you know, that's kinda that icing on the cake."
In the world of celebrity indulgence, Rod's taste for the finer things has been revealed - the singer apparently enjoys three-course meals every night complete with candles.
Opening up during an appearance on Celebrity MasterChef in 2021, Penny revealed that her husband regularly enjoys a fine dining experience, even when he's at home.
According to The Scottish Sun, when Penny and Rod first met, he had his own chef, meaning there "wasn't much need" for the Loose Women panellist to be in the kitchen.
Elaborating on the domestic roles, Penny admitted: "Rod kind of likes the fine dining every evening, three-course dinners, candles, and it's kind of out of my league, so I do the kids' cooking but otherwise, not really au fait."
Meanwhile, the 'Da Ya Think I'm Sexy?' singer is set to bring his charisma to Glastonbury Festival's Legends slot this year.
It's a celebrated return for the 80-year-old rocker, his first gig at the iconic event since his headlining act on the Pyramid Stage back in 2002.
