Zoe Ball has paid an emotional tribute to her mum, Julia Peckham, one year on since her death. The BBC Radio 2 presenter, 54, took to Instagram to mark the first anniversary since her mum's heartbreaking death. Alongside a selection of images featuring Julia and other members of their family, Zoe penned: "Miss you beyond words Mama. One year today." The post was immediately flooded with heartfelt messages from Zoe's friends and followers.

Countryfile star Matt Baker wrote: "What joyful pictures Zoe. What a radiant smile, you can feel her love for you X So sorry." Gaby Roslin added: "Sending you so much love my darling Zoe. She’ll always be there in your heart. Love you and I will always have hugs ready for you whenever you need them." Another posted: "Tough day Zoe. Thinking of you. Sending love and strength and remembering mum and those wonderful times . Keeps them with you everyday."

Meanwhile, Strictly's Carlos Gu and TV presenter Nicki Chapman shared their support by leaving red heart emojis under the post.

In March 2024, Zoe announced that Julia had been diagnosed with cancer and revealed she was taking time away from presenting her BBC Radio 2 show to spend time with her.

The broadcaster posted a family photo on social media, showing her mum surrounded by her grandchildren, and Zoe's brother Jamie.

She wrote: "Heartbreakingly our beautiful Mama Julia has been diagnosed with cancer. As many of you know from experience, these are extremely tough times. Mum is being incredibly brave.

"My brother Jamie & I are completely in awe of the brilliant doctors, nurses & support teams looking after Mum. Thank you."

Just one month later, Zoe announced that her mum had lost her battle with cancer.

Alongside an image of Julia from her younger years, Zoe wrote: "Sleep tight dear Mama. Thank you for teaching us how to love unconditionally, to always show courage and empathy.

"And how, even in the darkest of days, laughter is the greatest of gifts. We are bereft without you but will hold so tight to each other."

Zoe took several breaks from her BBC Radio 2 show last year before deciding to permanently step down after six years. Announcing her departure in November, the broadcaster said it was "time to step away from the very early mornings and focus on family".

Zoe later announced that Scott Mills would be replacing her.
