Just days after being imprisoned for a brutal assault, Sebastian Jones, 37, shamelessly flaunted his life behind bars by posting photos on Facebook. The thug was sentenced last week for a vicious attack on a 41 year old man in Oldham, Greater Manchester, as captured on CCTV footage and reported by the MEN.

From his cell, Jones uploaded two images on Sunday, April 20; one showed him grinning alongside another inmate with the caption "laugh now, cry later" accompanied by a lock and key emoji. Another photo depicted Jones posing with two fellow prisoners in what seemed to be a common area of the prison.

A spokesperson for HMP Forest Bank in Salford stated to The Manchester Evening News: "We do not comment on individuals." They added, "Safety and security are our top priority. We constantly review our activity to prevent the issue of illicit items such as mobile phones from entering the prison."

Greater Manchester Police detailed that Jones' violent offence occurred around 4am on Monday, July 15, 2024. After leaving a nightclub, CCTV caught Jones approaching the victim and delivering a punch that sent the man crashing to the ground, where Jones continued his savage beating, reports the Daily Record.

Alarmed witnesses called the police, who arrived to find the victim lying with severe head injuries. After a brutal attack that left a man critically injured, emergency services rushed to provide first aid before the victim managed to return home. He later sought hospital treatment due to the severity of his condition.

In a dramatic turn of events, police scoured a property on Dickens Street in Moorside under a warrant, only to find that the suspect, Jones, had started to dodge the authorities. A tense manhunt ensued, and after an intense seven-day search, Jones was apprehended in Bury.

Charged with Section 18 assault, Jones was held in custody, vehemently denying the charges. However, a three-day trial at Manchester Crown Court in January saw him convicted. On Thursday, April 17, justice was served as Jones received a seven-year prison sentence. Post-trial, Detective Superintendent Walker of Greater Manchester Police's Oldham district condemned the violence: "The level of violence displayed by Jones was completely unacceptable and cowardly."

Walker further commented on the incident, stating, "The victim was defenceless on the ground, and Jones carried out a sustained attack, causing significant injuries which have left a lasting impact on the victim and his family. Greater Manchester Police will not tolerate any form of violence."

Reflecting on Jones's actions post-assault, Walker added, "After the savage assault, he actively evaded police and showed no remorse for his actions. He is now rightly facing the consequences of his behaviour."
