Bradley Walsh candidly spoke out about a health condition that affected his looks. The beloved host of The Chase endured "seriously bad" blepharitis, which leads to red and swollen eyes. After viewers observed a noticeable change in July 2021, Bradley disclosed on This Morning: "People don't realise I have seriously bad blepharitis. I have to take one pill a day for it or I really struggle."

The TV favourite also disclosed that he's slated for an eye operation down the line. Addressing concerns over his appearance, Bradley stated: "So many times, people have commented on how I look. But they don't realise. If I take medication though, I'm fine," reinforcing the idea that looks can be deceiving. While not grave, untreated blepharitis can lead to complications like dry eyes, cysts, or conjunctivitis. This revelation followed a year after Bradley undertook a drastic life change following a scare with heart disease, reminiscent of his father's death from heart failure at 59.

Now 61, Bradley has implemented healthier lifestyle choices to escape becoming a similar cautionary tale, reports OK!.

In an interview with The Sun on Sunday, he reflected on the crucial moment, stating, "I had a hang-up because my father, Daniel, died at the age of 59. I had it in the back of my mind that I just had to get past my dad's age. So turning 60 was a bit of a milestone."

Reflecting on a profound personal loss, he disclosed, "I was 33 when he passed away. I'd just done the Royal Variety Show performance which helped launch my career, but my dad died from heart failure two weeks after that and never got to see it."

Bradley also shared a candid insight into his own health issues, noting the genetic high cholesterol inherited from his mother Margaret. He explained, "I'm not on statins but what my heart guy said was: 'Look, Brad, if you start training, all that (cholesterol) will drop. You need to get fit'. I was a time bomb. I was quite lucky in regards to the calcium test but my doctor said I produce too much cholesterol. It's a silent killer."

This stark realisation gave the well-known television presenter an urgent push towards healthier living, with Bradley subsequently losing 10lbs after being alerted to his condition shortly before the COVID-19 lockdown took effect.
