Pete Wicks has been singing the praises of his unlikely friendship with Sam Thompson, as Brits celebrate iconic duos that prove opposites really do attract. The survey of 2,000 adults highlighted other unexpected yet beloved friendships, both real and fictional. Among them were social media star GK Barry and Rev Richard Coles, alongside the legendary intergalactic bond of Han Solo and Chewbacca. But it was Elton John and Eminem's unlikely friendship which has topped the list, in particular, celebrating their iconic Grammy performance from 2001.

The list wouldn’t be complete without honoring the musical camaraderie between Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett, which earned a spot in the top 15. Joining them are TV personalities Sam Thompson and Pete Wicks, who have partnered with Twix for its "Two is more than one" campaign. Taking inspiration from celebrity couple nicknames like "Brangelina" and "Bennifer," the duo humorously combined their surnames to create "Sam and Pete Twix."

Talking about his friendship with Sam, Pete shared, “We couldn’t be any more different, and that just works, so we (or more so Sam) jumped at the chance of combining our names. He’s gutted he didn’t think of it first.

"Jokes aside, the best thing about our duo is we always have each other’s backs – and you can’t ask for more than that.”

The definition of an iconic duo, according to 56% of Brits, lies in their ability to bring out the best in one another, while 24% reckon it's because they are polar opposites of each other.

A significant 66% believe in the saying 'opposites attract' when it comes to real-life relationships, with 37% confessing they've had an unlikely friendship. Interestingly, 52% have formed a bond with someone who initially seemed entirely different from them, with one in 10 declaring that person is now their best friend.

Almost a quarter (24%) say their best friend knows them better than anyone else, and 25% even admit they confide more in their best friend than their own partner.

According to 32% of respondents in a OnePoll.com survey, knowing each other's families is the biggest indicator of 'best friend status'. This is followed by spending all day together and still having things to discuss (31%), knowing each other's favourite things (28%), and having your own unique language (15%).
