Many social media users flocked to Instagram to comment on the absence of Prince Andrew. One questioned: "Where is Andrew? I don't see him in these pictures, I wonder why?"
Another stated: "We all know, even if you didn't post a photo of him, that Duke of York was present. Why pretend?"
One added: "Where's the Duke of York!!!!"
The Duke of York has maintained a low profile in recent years, following his decision to step back from public duties in 2019 amid his links to the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Though Andrew remains a member of the Royal Family, he no longer carries out official engagements on behalf of the Crown. His Easter attendance in Windsor marked his first public outing with the family since reports emerged about his alleged links to a suspected Chinese spy, claims which the Chinese businessman has since denied.
The Duke's daughters, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, both attended the service with their respective spouses. Although missing from the Royal Family's post on X, the York sisters did feature in the official Instagram pictures.
The careful curation of the Royal Family's public image could be part of Charles's gradual modernisation efforts, and efforts to streamline the monarchy.
While the Prince and Princess of Wales were not in attendance this year, the royal turnout remained strong. Those that remained absent from the Sunday service included the Wales family, who chose to spend the holiday privately in Norfolk with their children.
Lady Louise Windsor was also absent from the Easter service, as she's currently studying at the University of St Andrews.
