Meghan Markle has sparked fury among those on social media after advising women on how to avoid burnout. Speaking on the second episode of her Confessions of a Female Founder on Tuesday, the Duchess urged women to "be courageous" and "ask for help" when they are experiencing mental exhaustion.

The Duchess was joined by Indian American lawyer and politician Reshma Saujani, founder of the non-profit 'Girls Who Code', on the latest instalment of her podcast and aired her thoughts after Reshma spoke about her experiences with miscarriages and how she felt she had to keep working, despite the loss she was experiencing.

Speaking about what she was going through and how she dealt with the loss, Reshma told Meghan: "I got into this scary habit where I would be in a doctor's office and they'd say 'There's no heartbeat' and I should've just gone home and gone to sleep and curl up with my husband.

"But I would just take a breath and show up in a living room, on a stage and just perform and often times I was performing in front of these children I desperately wanted and I just got really good at that but it was just eating me up inside."

While Meghan listened carefully to her friend's struggles as Reshma admitted to finally asking her team to take some of the strain, the Duchess turned the focus to understanding the importance of putting yourself first when you are experiencing mental exhaustion and burnout.

"The courage that it takes for a female founder, for a woman, when you're on this path, you're on this grind, you've set expectations... The courage that it takes to say 'I need help' or 'I need a pause' is tremendous," Meghan said.

Meghan's advice was met with a passionate response from those on social media. Taking to X, one user wrote: "Meghan Markle needs to stop with the victim mentality. There are far more brave things a woman can do than ask for help. She knows nothing about burn out or authenticity. She married a prince! Men have to be strong while women 'keep smiling.' I'll take smiling any day."

Adding to the reaction, a second wrote: "Oh, please—Meghan preaching about courage while playing the barefoot billionaire in her curated 'struggle'? Spare us the theatrics, Duchess of Drama. #OutOfTouch."

A third added: "They’re such victims. It’s disgusting", while a final asked: "What century is she living in?"
