Sally Nugent and Jon Kay were back on TV screens on Wednesday (16 April), with another jam-packed episode of BBC Breakfast. The two co-hosts brought viewers all of the latest news and headlines, with Carol Kirkwood providing weather updates throughout the show.

Sally and Jon looked at the headlines in the day's papers, with one article focusing on a recent study regarding the heart health of fast walkers in contrast to those who walk slowly.

Sally read out the details of the study, telling TV viewers: "Inside the papers today, here is a story that you will appreciate Jon. Did you know, that people who walk fast have better heart health? So, if you're naturally quite a speedy walker, you are less likely to have, according to this latest survey, atrial fibrillation.

"That's when your heart beats irregularly or a little bit too fast. But, slow walkers were less likely to feel the benefits of lots and lots of steps."

Laughing, Jon then informed BBC viewers that his co-host was mocking him: "The reason Sally has chosen this story is because everyday I struggle to keep up with her when she walks around the office."

The pair fell about laughing as Sally admitted she is a "fast walker", with Jon exclaiming: "Are you feeling smug? Feeling healthy?!"

"Yeah, feeling like my heart might be super healthy and very happy," Sally quipped. "But, it is a little bit frustrating if you're a fast walker and people are walking slowly on the pavements... that can be a little bit frustrating."

Knowing her comment was aimed at him, Jon joked: "Anyone in particular? Name and shame!" to which Sally added: "But you're too busy chatting to people! That's what it is."

The segment finished with Sally and Jon struggling to contain their laughter, before turning to their co-star Nick Johnson for the latest on another developing story.

Elsewhere on Wednesday's instalment of BBC Breakfast, TV viewers were given the latest on falling petrol prices, The Tree Council's new battle and the most recent sports news from presenter John Watson.

Sally and Jon host BBC Breakfast on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with Charlie Stayt and Naga Munchetty fronting the final shows of the week.

BBC Breakfast airs on weekdays at 6am on BBC One
