With Easter around the corner, families across the country are all set to enjoy the long weekend. However, there are many road closures planned that will impact the UK's motorways and A-roads.
More than 19 million car journeys are expected on Good Friday alone, meaning drivers face bottlenecks and congestion on popular routes. While no major road closures are planned over the long weekend from April 18 to 21, many stretches of M65, A21, M6 and many more will be impacted in the days leading up to the busy weekend. The map on the National Highway's website shows the current and the future closures for all the major roads across the country.
Tuesday, April 15:
The A14 eastbound exit slip at junction J15 is currently closed due to road works.
The A45 roundabout is closed until May 12 due to ongoing road works.
The A1M northbound between junctions A1 and J15 will be closed until 6am on April 16.
The A47 westbound between the junctions with the A149 and the A1064. Expect disruption everyday between 8pm and 5am from April 15 to April 17.
Wednesday, April 16:
The M6 northbound exit slip at junction J35 will remain closed until 6am.
The M62 westbound exit slip at junction J6 to roundabout will be shut until 6am.
The M606 northbound will remain closed between 9pm on April 16 and 5am on April 17 due to the planned horticulture works.
The M65 eastbound at junction J6 will be closed between 9pm on April 16 and 5am on April 17.
The M58 eastbound entry slip at junction J5 will be closed as emergency barrier repairs are planned.
The junction of the A2070 and the A2042 will remain closed.
The A1 southbound between the A607 and the junction with the A151 to remain closed until 6am.
The A21 northbound between the junctions with the A225 and the A25 West to stay closed until 6am.
Thursday, April 17:
The M65 eastbound at junction J6 will be closed until 5am.
The junction of the A2070 and the A2042 will remain closed until 5pm due to the planned road markings work.
The A35 eastbound will be closed from 8am due to the planned roadworks.
