The grandchildren of Princess Margaret spend much of their lives out of the spotlight, but Lady Margarita Armstrong-Jones is quickly becoming a popular and recognisable face among the social set. The royal, who is the daughter of David, Earl of Snowdon and his ex-wife Serena, Countess of Snowdon, previously had a huge role in the Prince and Princess of Wales's wedding as one of the couple's young bridesmaids.

Now, Lady Margarita has given a rare interview to Hello Magazine and shared the genius piece of advice her father gave her which she says she has "carried" through everything she does.

Speaking during the interview, Lady Margarita, who has her own jewellery line, reflected on her family's artistic past as her grandfather, Antony Armstrong-Jones, was a famous photographer, and her father is a furniture maker who works under the name David Linley.

Reflecting on five words of advice her father has always told her when undertaking any project, she said: "That’s what Dad was pretty adamant about. He’d always say: 'Be curious and be different', which I carried with me."

On inheriting her photographer grandfather’s creative eye, she told the magazine: "Well, it must have come from somewhere.

"He was a phenomenal photographer – weirdly, I’ve just bought one of his books about interesting places in London architecturally, so there is some ongoing overlap. The people that he photographed were just incredible."

After she launched her jewellery line, Matita, Lady Margarita spoke about what her influences are - and travel tops the list. Mexico has provided a lot of inspiration as she describes it as "Seriously cool, just full of life and artistry and all sorts of things," before going on to add that she's stayed with tribes in Indonesia.

Of her designs, she says: "I have a lot of African influence, inspired by travelling and finding all these pieces and the part of the world that they’re from. It all tells a story."

Lady Margarita isn't the only one of Princess Margaret's grandchildren to be pushing for a career in the arts as her cousin, Samuel Chatto, is a talented sculptor and potter who enjoys regular exhibitions of his art.

Sam, who is the eldest son of Lady Sarah Chatto and Daniel Chatto, has recently been sharing videos on his official Instagram page to talk about one of the pieces featured in his latest exhibition in Japan.
