A family has been plunged into despair following the tragic death of their 7-month-old baby, who was savagely attacked by the family's pit bull, prompting a deeply sorrowful statement from the grief-stricken father.

Kameron Turner took to Facebook with a heartrending admission, "I'd give my life to bring my baby back," after his daughter Elizah was fatally wounded in the horrendous incident that occurred in the morning hours of Wednesday, April 9 at their Columbus, Ohio home.

Harrowing body cam footage obtained by the Columbus Police Department shows an individual instructing a responding officer about the dire circumstances, mentioning he had secured one dog within a vehicle while two others were loose on the property.

The released video illustrates officers arriving at the scene close to 11:30am. According to the Mirror US, a representative from the Franklin County Coroner's Office declared the unfortunate passing of Elizah to People magazine, noting she passed away at 11:43am.

The coroner's spokesman recounted how initially one parent hurriedly took the child to a nearby fire station; subsequently, she was transported to Nationwide Children's Hospital. There Dr. Jennifer Melvin confirmed the 7-month-old's death shortly after her arrival, reports the Mirror.

Sgt. James Fuqua of the Columbus Police Department disclosed to the public that Franklin Animal Control is at the forefront of the investigation into this heartbreaking event, and they have since taken custody of the three dogs involved.

Her heartbroken father took to Facebook, lamenting: "All I want to say is please everyone who has babies hold them tight and never leave their side This pain is so unbearable."

He also shared the family's hopeful move into a new home that now feels overshadowed by tragedy.

In stark terms, he expressed his grief saying, "We have a long road ahead of us, and I really don't understand why god puts us through this s***. It's gonna be the worse road ahead of us, s*** has not stopped," vividly portraying his anguish as a father who has lost a child.

To aid Elizah's family, who are also caring for a four year old boy, in covering funeral expenses, supportive fundraising efforts have been underway. The bereaved dad further confided, "I just don't understand why people who do right have to go through this pain."

Animals 24-7 report that this harrowing incident is the fourth fatal pit bull attack on a young child in just one month, which brings the grim total of dog attack fatalities in the U.S. for 2025 up to 22. The publication also revealed that the three pit bulls from the household, named Kilo, Kane, and Kash and now in the custody of animal control, leave unanswered questions about which dog was involved in the devastating attack.
