The Met Office has issued a new 17-hour yellow weather warning for rain in Northern Ireland from 2am Wednesday until 9pm Wednesday. The news comes in addition to another yellow warning for rain in Southwest England and Wales. This warning runs from 12pm Tuesday until 12pm Wednesday.
The latest yellow alert reads: "Rain will develop through the early hours of Wednesday, heavy at times, and lasting for much of the day. Most areas within the warning will see 20-30 mm of rain, but a few spots could see 50-60 mm particularly over the high ground of Antrim and Down. Rain will ease from the west Wednesday evening."
This latest warning is expected to cause some flooding and disruption to travel. The Met Office added: "Flooding of a few homes and businesses is possible.
"Perhaps some interruption to power supplies and other services. Spray and flooding on roads probably making journey times longer. Bus and train services probably affected with journey times taking longer."
The previous yellow rain warning for England and Wales reads: "A spell of heavy and persistent rain is expected to move north across western Britain during Tuesday into early Wednesday.
"While there is some uncertainty about where the heaviest rain will fall, 20-40 mm of rain is expected fairly widely.
"A few places may see 50-75 mm of rain during this period: gradually building up in the west following rain on Monday, whilst in parts of the east, falling in shorter periods where heavy showers and thunderstorms become slow-moving."
