Warwick Davis' heart was broken when he lost his soulmate Samantha after she underwent surgery. Now Express can confirm the official cause of death.
The Harry Potter star's wife died of a cardiac arrest, according to the latest report. In an inquest, it was confirmed that nothing untoward took place and that the care Samantha had received was "excellent", meaning her "heart-breaking" death had been unavoidable. The Senior Coroner for Inner West London, Professor Fiona Wilcox, shared: "I am satisfied that the medical cause of death should be arrhythmic cardiac arrest and complications following left thoracotomies."
She continued: "In my view, the stress of everything together has precipitated this arrhythmic cardiac arrest in a lady who was not known to have any previous arrhythmia problems.
"I have found nothing but excellent care being delivered to this lady and all of her complications were appropriately managed.
"It is frankly heartbreaking that the surgery itself was successful only for complications to arise and to cause her death."
The pair had known each other for almost four decades, after Samantha met the love of her life when she was just 17.
Samantha's will was testament to the strong bond the pair shared, with Warwick being named as the sole trustee to his wife's fortune of over half a million pounds.
The heartbroken actor posted a statement on Instagram in March 2024 confirming his everlasting love of her.
He wrote: "Her passing has left a huge hole in our lives as a family. I miss her hugs. She was a unique character, always seeing the sunny side of life she had a wicked sense of humour and always laughed at my bad jokes."
Like Warwick, Samantha had a form of dwarfism following the diagnosis of a bone growth disorder - but she lived a happy and successful life for all of her 53 years, and will be sorely missed.
