The Davis family, including Warwick Davis, a well-known actor from the Star Wars and Harry Potter franchises, are steeling themselves for what they've termed a "difficult next chapter" with the inquest into the death of his beloved wife Samantha imminent. Samantha, an actress herself, passed away at the age of 53 at University College Hospital in London on 24 March last year. Her loved ones are hopeful that the impending inquest, scheduled at Inner West London Coroner's Court for Monday, will finally offer them some much-needed answers after grappling with her passing, which they describe as having been "incredibly difficult".

Ms Davis, who was also an actress, died aged 53 at University College Hospital in London on March 24 last year. The couple met during the filming of 1988 fantasy movie Willow, in which he had a starring role as the hero Willow Ufgood. They married in 1991 and have two children and subsequently welcomed two children.

Just before the hearing, through their lawyers, the Davis family shared heartfelt sentiments: "We know that the resilience and strength Sammy instilled in all of us will guide us through this difficult next chapter. Her love, support, and determination is a legacy we want to continue. 'Sammy's Helping Hands fund', which was set up in her honour, has already had a huge impact on young people in the dwarfism community, and will continue to support families all over the UK moving forwards.

"The last year and trying to come to terms with Samantha's death has been incredibly difficult. However, we hope that the inquest will at last provide us with answers. We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their kindness and well-wishes to us all."

In an emotive moment at the Bafta film fellowship award ceremony held in February, Warwick dedicated his award to Samantha, a gesture that highlighted the deep affection he held for her.

He shared how "life has been pretty tough" since her passing, acknowledging that "she was always so supportive of my career, encouraging me to grab every opportunity with both hands". He continued by expressing gratitude: "Thanks to the support of our wonderful children I've been able to continue working and engaging in life."

Warwick first captured hearts as an 11 year old Ewok in Star Wars: Return Of The Jedi and later charmed audiences again as Willow Ufgood in the 2022 Disney+ series based on the character.

Alongside Samantha, he was instrumental in establishing Little People UK in 2012, aiming to support those with dwarfism and their families. The couple also appeared together in Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 2, where Samantha portrayed a goblin.

Warwick is renowned for his roles as Professor Flitwick in the entire Harry Potter series and as the Gringotts Wizarding Bank goblin Griphook.
