Thick black smoke billowed across Basildon following a huge blaze near the Five Bells junction. Plumes could be seen from as far away as Pipps Hill retail park, with the fire sending smoke high into the sky.
The exact location is unclear, but the blaze is understood to be affecting traffic on the A13. Drivers have been warned of delays due to poor visibility caused by smoke drifting across the road.
