Dazed and Confused actor Nicky Katt has passed away aged 54, a representative confirmed. Celebrated for his performances in hits like School of Rock, Friends and Sister Act, the star's illustrious career stretched over an impressive five decades.

While the circumstances surrounding Nicky's death remain undisclosed, heartfelt tributes have poured in from devastated friends and co-workers. Beau Flynn, the head honcho of Flynn Picture Company, lamented: "Heartbroken to learn about the way too early passing of the seriously talented actor Nicky Katt - God bless you my friend. What a privilege to know you and work with you on my first movie in 1995 - 'johns'. Rest in peace brother.". Nicky catapulted to stardom with his breakout role in the cult classic Dazed and Confused, followed by a memorable turn as Harry Senate on the hit series Boston Public.

His impressive filmography spans a range of notable films including A Time to Kill, Boiler Room, The Way of the Gun, SubUrbia, Insomnia, and School of Rock. He even graced the stage in Woody Allen's play A Second Hand Memory.

Born on May 11, 1970, in South Dakota, Nicky Katt embarked on his acting journey at just seven years old with a part in the 1977 TV series CHiPs. His career blossomed with guest spots on shows like Voyagers!, Trapper John M.D., Quincy, and The Facts of Life.

Katt's voice also brought characters to life in the animated series The Get Along Gang during the '80s and in the video game Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords. Despite a varied career across TV and theatre, his most recent TV appearance was in the 2018 Hulu series Casual.

In a nostalgic reunion, he joined his Dazed and Confused castmates for a virtual script reading in October 2020, supporting Voto Latino Foundation and March for Science.

The actor, who remained childless, was once married to Annie Morse from 1999 until their split in 2001. His passing was first reported by Deadline, though the cause of death remains unconfirmed.

Fans have been expressing their sorrow online, with heartfelt tributes pouring in, including one fan's poignant words: "Oh man. he was such a good character actor, this is a bummer." Another added: "He was wonderful in his roles. Too young."

Film critic Barry Hertz also expressed his admiration, stating: "Nicky Katt should've/could've been 2010's Walton Goggins. Phenomenal in everything from Boston Public to Planet Terror. RIP."
