A huge Great British Bake Off star is being tipped to join Strictly Come Dancing after she made a social media comment on Instagram. Candice Brown, who won the iconic baking show in 2016, said she hoped to join the dance competition and demanded that she be paired with Karen Hauer.
BBC bosses recently confirmed the official line-up of professional dancers today, with Dianne Buswell, Nikita Kuzmin, Katya Jones, Neil Jones, and Gorka Marquez returning to the much-loved show. Karen will be back for a staggering 14th series, firmly putting earlier reports that she was rumoured to be "axed" from the show to bed.
Karen then posted a photo of herself on Instagram confirming her return, writing, "14th series. Feels Good to be Back. Grateful." This sparked numerous comments from her fans, including a message from Candice.
The 40-year-old baker replied, "Is it our year together???????" Her comment has already accumulated nearly 20 likes and one person chimed in, "@candicebrown I really hope your on strictly Candice!!!"
Meanwhile, Karen responded, "@candicebrown I’m waiting for you," as another fan said, "@karenhauer would love to see you dancing with another female again."
During the 2022 series, Karen was paired with comedian Jayde Adams in one of two same-sex partnerships that year. They became the fourth couple to leave the competition.
The news comes just months after it was reported that five seasoned professional dancers potentially faced the chop from Strictly Come Dancing.
Nadiya Bychkova, Neil Jones, Karen Hauer, Gorka Marquez, and Katya Jones were all rumoured to face the axe and hang up their dancing shoes.
Express Online reported in November that a show source allegedly told the press that a major shakeup of the cast depended on who performed well in the 2024 series. Nadiya was the first pro dancer to be voted off the 2024 series, followed by Neil Jones and Karen. Katya made it to Blackpool Week but was eliminated alongside partner Wynne Evans.
Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One this autumn.
