The Handmaid's Tale has returned to our screens for its final season on Hulu, introducing a new character to the storyline.
Actor Josh Charles has been cast as Commander Gabriel Wharton, the father-in-law of Nick Blaine (portrayed by Max Minghella).
Commander Wharton, a widower, is fiercely protective of his daughter Rose (played by Carey Cox), who is expecting her first child.
The stern Gilead Commander keeps a close watch on Nick, whom he distrusts due to his past relationship with June Osborne (Elisabeth Moss).
Many viewers are curious about Charles' life off-screen and where they might have seen him before, reports the Mirror US.
Born in Baltimore, 53 year old Charles is married to former ballet dancer Sophie Flack. The couple exchanged vows in 2013.
Their intimate wedding ceremony took place in Manhattan, followed by a dinner at Il Cantinori in Greenwich Village, New York City, according to Us Weekly.
Although they've kept their relationship largely private, it's believed they were together for some time before tying the knot.
The couple have two children, welcoming their son in 2014 and their daughter four years later in 2018.
Flack, now 41, was a ballerina with the New York City Ballet for nine years before transitioning to writing and other ventures.
Her time with the dance company from 2001 to 2009 inspired her novel Bunheads, which was published in 2011.
She has since ventured into the world of freelance writing and editing, while also embarking on a new journey as a jewellery designer.
Taking to Instagram with an enchanting video from inside the NoMad studio, she penned: "Looking to create the bespoke piece of your dreams or reset an existing piece?

Flack treated her followers to another charming video, this time alongside her well-known spouse, as they enjoyed a meal out.
The endearing post was captioned: "Find yourself a partner who makes a 16-course Omakase fun, when cod intestines is the amuse-bouche."
Charles has also captured the attention of audiences, most recognisable for his stint as lawyer Will Gardner on The Good Wife, earning him two Emmy nods.
Other impressive credits include his work in Sports Night, Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead and as Knox Overstreet in Dead Poets Society – a role he hinted at in Taylor Swift's music video for Fortnight, from her album The Tortured Poets Department.
In 2024, he teamed up with his The Handmaid's Tale colleague Elisabeth Moss in Hulu's spy series The Veil.
His extensive resume stretches to include appearances in We Own This City, The Power, Away, Medal of Honor, and The Loudest Voice.
The Handmaid’s Tale season 6 will be coming to Prime Video on May 3 and Channel 4 later in 2025 in the UK
