A drunken thug has been barred from stepping foot in every pub in England and Wales after an all-day binge ended in a violent brawl.
Paul Ormond, 38, left his victim needing reconstructive surgery when he punched him and smashed his face in an unprovoked attack.
The lout had been drinking heavily when he launched at his victim in the Turks Head pub in Retford, Nottinghamshire.
The victim was in the pub at 10.40pm on July 6 last year when Ormond punched him so hard he suffered a broken eye socket, smashed nose and cheeks.
A court heard the man's injuries were so severe he underwent multiple surgeries and had several plates fixed in his face.
Ormond, of Retford was arrested and admitted grievous bodily harm without intent when he appeared at Nottingham Crown Court.
He was spared jail but Judge Recorder Sprawson branded him a "drunken thug" and banned him from every pub in England and Wales for two years.
The order means Ormond faces jail if he steps foot in any of the nearly 39,000 pubs in either nation before April 2027.
He was handed a two-year suspended sentence, ordered to do 120 hours of unpaid work and pay the victim £7,500 compensation.
He was also ordered to wear an alcohol monitoring tag for 120 days which takes a measurement of his sweat every 30 minutes.
In a victim impact statement, the injured man said he could not bare to see his reflection in mirrors.
He also said the attack had deeply affected his personal relationships and had halted his plans of moving abroad.
Ormond had a string of previous offences, including wounding with intent, affray, and assaulting an officer.
PC Andrew Sansom, of Notttinghamshire Police, said: "This was a vicious attack which continues to have a significant impact on the victim to this day.
"We hope the sentencing makes a serious impact on the offender's future choices.
"Violence is completely unacceptable and we will always do what we can to put perpetrators before the courts."
