Tolls using both the Silvertown Tunnel and Blackwall Tunnel come into effect to today, though drivers can avoid the fee if their vehicle is exempt or has a 100% discount.
Transport for London (TfL) says the charge will help manage traffic levels across both tunnels, as well as repaying the build costs of the £2.2billion project, and support the maintenance and operation of both tunnels.
Drivers will face charges for each crossing, in both directions, during the two tunnels' charging hours.
A peak charge applies during the busiest times (06:00-10:00 northbound and 16:00-19:00 southbound weekdays), which TfL says will help spread traffic levels more evenly and reduce traffic build ups.
An off-peak charge will be in effect at all other times and over weekends 06:00 to 22:00 for customers registered with Auto Pay.
However, there will be no charge to use the tunnels overnight from 22:00 to 06:00.
Eligible local residents on certain benefits, sole traders, small businesses and charities, will be able to take advantage of charge discounts, with public transport concessions for everyone.
You can use TfL's vehicle checker to see what you'll need to pay.
