BBC Radio 2 presenter Owain Wyn Evans said he didn't know where Rylan Clark was, as he filled in for him on his Saturday show this weekend.

Kicking off the show, the 41-year-old greeted listeners in high spirits saying: "Greetings and salutations! No, Rylan has not suddenly adopted a West Wales accent after a funny [turn], it's me, Owain, with you for the next couple of hours, in the hot seat for the main man today."

The stand-in host went on to say that he had a "lovely show" coming up, adding: "We'll be asking, where is Rylan? He's put some leave in, he's not here so I'm covering for him.

"But, nobody knows where he is, it's a bit of a mystery actually."

Drawing attention to his producer's cheeky suggestion, he continued: "Producer Simon said he's off having singing lessons... Simon, very shady that."

Throughout the show, Owain asked listeners if they had seen Rylan, which sparked some humorous replies.

Sharing where he thought he might be, he said: "I think he might've gone for a cheeky little break away somewhere."

Reading out messages from some fans, Owain said one listener suggested that he could be a part of the Grand National, while another joked they had spotted him walking a pony in Chelmsford, Essex.

Furthermore, a third claimed he had joined Millwall fans at a pub, while another joked that they had seen Rylan on a bus, disguised as a chicken.

Amused by the varied reports, Owain remarked: "Well, either Rylan is very busy or there are lots of Rylan lookalikes about because I'm asking where is he."

It's not the first time Rylan's absence has sparked some mystery.

Back in February when the presenter was missing from his show, Richie Anderson stepped in and announced that Rylan had "the sniffles".

However, he joked that he wasn't sure if Rylan was telling the truth after listeners apparently spotted him out.

The former X Factor star later hit back at the playful accusations and went on to express gratitude for the support he received from listeners.

Rylan on Saturday airs weekly on BBC Radio 2 from 3pm.
