Hollywood heavyweight Bill Murray has been filmed lashing out at a fan during a cinema visit as he threatened to step on the man’s foot. In a video filmed on March 27, Bill, 74, was seen challenging an unidentified man. The Ghostbusters star went viral on TikTok when he was filmed yelling: “Stop it!” at the fan, quickly turning around and pointing a finger in anger.

The man, meanwhile, can be seen raising his hands in the air and apologising to Bill, who said: “If you attack me like that, I’ll step on your foot.” He stepped towards him while a security guard put a hand on the actor’s back to take him away from the scene. But before leaving, Bill turned around back to the fan and warned him he’d committed a “physical assault”, fuming: “Don’t do it. That’s a physical assault you’ve just made.”

He then told the fan: “Don’t do it again. You’re not big enough to do that.” At the time, Bill had been attending a Q&A session to promote his new movie The Friend.

It’s unclear from the footage what the fan had initially done, but he was seen holding a phone and saying ‘sorry’ to the actor as he stormed away towards an escalator. Trying to step onto the moving platform, Bill was quickly ushered in a different direction by security.

The video now has more than 1.9million views. TikToker Anton Gerasimenko, who filmed the clip, explained to Storyful that the incident kicked off when Murray refused to take photographs or sign autographs for fans before the Q&A.

Anton said: “One fan ignored the refusal and tried to take a photo with Bill in the background. The first attempt failed, and inside the theatre the fan tried again, accidentally bumping into Bill.”

Fans have been reaching out in support of the Hollywood star, with one tweeting: “Good for him!!! Sometimes people want to act like celebrities owe them because we are the fans but it's not like that and I applaud Bill Murray for standing his ground and telling him to back off.”

Another, however, argued: “It appears to be an accident; the guy wasn't even looking at him. Bill Murray might have thought it was intentional, but he should see this video. An accident isn't an assault.”

Express.co.uk has contacted Murray’s representative for comment.
