Escape to the Country graced television screens once again with a fresh episode on Thursday, 3rd March, featuring host Steve Brown, who journeyed to Powys in Wales, aiming to assist a couple in their quest for an idyllic home.
Rich and Sue were determined to find a new home after disclosing their plans for a complete lifestyle overhaul in the Welsh countryside.
With a generous £600,000 budget, the duo was looking for a rural retreat that could also serve as a business venture. They dreamed of establishing a holiday let on the premises, possibly in the form of glamping pods.
Steve had a trio of potential homes to showcase to Sue and Rich, each offering its own unique charm.
The inaugural property, nestled in Franksbridge, carried a price tag of £495,000. This 19th-century cottage boasted three bedrooms, three reception areas, and an acre of land, presenting a prime opportunity for the couple's holiday let enterprise, reports Wales Online.
The second contender, located in Penybont and valued at £650,000, featured four bedrooms, three reception spaces, half an acre of land, and two existing holiday lets, one of which was a sumptuous shepherd's hut, seemingly checking all the boxes for the couple.
Despite acknowledging the house's "cosy, welcoming feeling" and praising it as "gorgeous", Rich and Sue appeared to remain unconvinced by the property.
However, Steve's third and ultimate offering truly captivated the couple, even though it required some renovation. Priced at £550,000, this 1960s bungalow came with four bedrooms and a substantial 6.2 acres of land, including a walled garden and two paddocks.
During their exploration of the property and its picturesque surroundings, Sue couldn't contain her emotions and confessed to feeling "choked up" at the sight of the expansive garden, exclaiming: "It's making me cry!"
Her partner concurred, humorously expressing his difficulty finding words: "I'm starting to run out of words now, I don't want to keep using 'wow' all the time!"
In a heartwarming conversation later with Steve, Rich and Sue divulged their enthusiasm to proceed with an offer on the third property they saw. Overflowing with hopes for a new chapter in Powys, they looked forward to crafting their ideal home and launching their business venture.
Alas, the story took an unexpected twist as it was disclosed in the episode's conclusion that despite Rich and Sue putting in their bid, the homeowner went ahead with accepting a more substantial offer from another party, leaving the duo continuing their quest for the perfect property.
