The Chase's Dark Destroyer, Shaun Wallace, has let slip details about his personal life, confirming that he is in a relationship. The 65 year old legal eagle, typically reserved about his private matters, shared the news on the How To Be 60 podcast with Loose Women's Kaye Adams and her co-host Karen MacKenzie.
Despite not being hitched, Shaun feels strongly devoted to his profession, as he remarked: "I suppose I'm married to my career. Put it that way. I like that. I prefer that and I'm happier." When questioned further about having a significant other, Shaun revealed: "Yes, I'm in a relationship."
Kaye probed for more intimate details, but Shaun largely kept things mysterious. Quizzed about children, he confirmed: "No, I have never had a child."
Shaun justified his decision against parenting citing financial and professional challenges during his barrister beginnings, stating: "It was a conscious reason when I was a young struggling barrister. I didn't think it would be right to bring up a child when you're trying to climb to the top of that greasy pole."
While he isn't a parent, Shaun Wallace takes great joy in his role as a godfather, proudly saying: "And I've never regretted that decision. I've got 15 godchildren.
"Two of them are called Shaun and I'm the best godfather in the world. I probably would have been a great dad but I've got no regrets in relation to that."
He also played a significant role in his ex-partner's child's life, who he views as a daughter, adding: "I watched her grow into a lovely young lady. She got a first-class honours degree recently and she got her doctorate the other day and I was there."
A mainstay of The Chase since its launch in June 2009, Shaun, along with Mark Labbett, is one of the original Chasers on the show, with Anne Hegarty joining in the second season.
