Thousands of newly weds jet off to sunny destinations every year after tying the knot, heading to destinations across the globe such as the Caribbean, Asia, and Europe. But it looks like there is another, under-explored place that Brits are starting to notice and consider for their first post-marriage adventure with their other half.
A report by Scenic Cruises has revealed that Mo'orea, French Polynesia saw the largest increase in search volume in 2024 compared to 2023, jumping a staggering 200 percent. Mo'orea is located in the South Pacific Ocean and is known for its scenic sandy beaches and staggering volcanic mountains, attracting visitors from acorss the globe. The remote location is quite the journey from the UK and travelling there can take around 30 hours, starting at London Heathrow Airport and making multiple stops before eventually arriving at Mo'orea.
The report was shared after Scenic Cruises compiled a list of potential honeymoon destinations and generated destination-specific keywords by appending "Honeymoon" to each place name. These terms were then analysed using Google Keyword Planner to retrieve monthly search volume data spanning the past four years.
They then looked at the year-on-year increase in search traffic for each destination to see which ones are ganing the most interest.
According to their findings, Athens, Budapest and Dubrovnik all saw a 100 percent increase, as did Quebec in Canada, Saint-Tropez in France and Tokyo in Japan.
Meanwhile, Tahiti, also located in French Polynesia, saw a 56 percent increase, while searches for Barcelona and Lombok in Indonesia saw a jump of 50 percent when it came to how many people were searching for honeymoons there.
