MobLand actor Tom Hardy is without a doubt one of the country's most popular and well-liked actors. His latest role is in new Paramount+ series MobLand which focuses on the battle between two London crime families within a global crime syndicate.

Street-wise, Harry Da Souza (Tom Hardy) is caught in the crossfire as the rivalry grows violent and leaves many questioning their loyalties.

The 47-year-old has starred in an array of blockbuster movies raking in billions of pounds. Tom Hardy has since gone on to appear in films such as Black Hawk Down, The Dark Knight Rises, and Dunkirk and has also made a name for himself as Eddie Brock in the Marvel film Venom and its sequels.

Away from the cameras and the limelight, Tom has kept a low profile with his family. He also competes in Jiu-Jitsu and even promoted to purple belt in June 2023.

But what else do we know about his life away from acting?

To the disbelief of many, Tom is not his real first name. Instead, he was born Edward Thomas Hardy in Hammersmith, London, on September 15, 1977.

The 47-year-old was the only child of Anne, a painter, and Edward John "Chips" Hardy, a novelist and comedy writer. Edward worked with his son on the BBC drama Taboo, who created the series with Steven Knight.

He attended a variety of schools in the East Sheen suburb of London as well as schools in Surrey.

Tom Hardy is currently married to actress Charlotte Riley after they tied the knot in July 2014. The pair had met in 2009, while they played fictional lovers Cathy and Heathcliff in Wuthering Heights.

Riley got her first big break when she secured the role of Catherine in Wuthering Heights, but has also appeared in Peaky Blinders, Close to the Enemy, Press and Trust. She has also featured in films Edge of Tomorrow, In The Heart of the Sea, London Has Fallen and Grand Street.

Together, Charlotte and Tom have two children - one born in October 2015 and another in December 2018.

In 2008, Hardy had a son called Louis Thomas with his former partner Rachael Speed before they separated in 2009. Louis Thomas has joined his father at many film events, including Venom: The Last Dance premiere in 2024.

While Louis Thomas has a public profile, Tom and Charlotte have decided to keep the identities of their children out of the public eye, including their names and gender.

Tom Hardy credited the arrival of his first son helped him overcome his issues with addiction. He shared: "It's the best thing I could have wished for.

"I was very self-indulgent for a long time and I was only thinking about my own stupid stuff and myself. Having a child lifts you out of that selfish behaviour. I take great pride in being a father and make sure I'm there for him and helping him as he makes his way in the world."

After many years in London, the Hollywood heavyweight is now believed to lead a quiet life in the Surrey countryside with his wife and children.

He is believed to live in Cranleigh, which is a traditional English village around eight miles from Guildford. He also pops into nearby Sussex to do his shopping, meet fans and do day-to-day activities.

In 2019, the movie star visited The Sussex Produce Company in Steyning with onlookers amazed at the sight of such a high profile figure. At the time, onlookers said that Hardy was more than happy to stop for photographs with his enamoured fans.

Hardy has also been spotting shopping at Tesco in Broadbridge Heath and is understood to regularly pick up some groceries at the store.
