The luxurious Palace on Wheels in India was named the best train journey in the world by Conde Nast in 2024 for its once-in-a-lifetime experience, which takes passengers through India’s most iconic destinations while indulging them with exquisite local cuisine, served in lavishly decorated carriages draped in vibrant Indian textiles. The train trip stops at 9 different cities and travels 1850 miles across India in the space of just eight days.

Starting its journey in the bustling capital of Delhi, the train travels to Jaipur, the famous Pink City which was founded in 1727, and is known for its stunning pink-coloured buildings and rich cultural heritage. From Jaipur, the journey continues to the Ranthambhore Tiger Reserve and Chittorgarh Hill Fort which is a famous UNESCO World Heritage site and the largest fort in India. 

Next, the train visits Udaipur, often called the City of Lakes, founded in 1553 by Maharana Udai Singh II, which is known for its picturesque lakes and Rajputana palaces.

Other cities and sites include Jaisalmer Fort that stands amidst the desert of Rajasthan, Jodhpur, Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary and of course the unmissable Taj Mahal. 

The train journey promises traditional dances, local markets, fine dining, wildlife and plenty of luxury. 

Guests can enjoy themed events, film screenings and dining performances with cabins that are all themed around a precious stone and elaborate furnishings and linens. 

From January to March 2025, the cost for a single occupancy in a Deluxe Cabin is of £8,150 per person.

If you choose double occupancy in the same cabin, the price drops to £5,300 per person.

For those seeking a more luxurious experience, the Super Deluxe Cabin is available for £14,920, while the Presidential Suite can be booked for £19,058.

During the low season prices start at £8,152 for April 2025 for single occupancy and £4,691 for double occupancy.
