One "unspoiled" beach in Cornwall with crystal waters and fewer crowds has been dubbed the "best in the UK." Located in remote West Cornwall, the small and secluded beach oozes Cornish charm, with its unique wildlife, stunning cliffs, and pristine sands.
Nanjizal, a quaint beach in St Levan, is known for its striking natural stone formations, with a sparkling quartz vein known as Diamond Horse cutting through the rocks on the north shore, while a rock arch known as "song of the sea" frames the south of the beach. A Cornish tourism site run by locals, Cornish One, explained that the lack of facilities adds to the beach's untouched beauty, deeming it a "small and secluded hidden gem that remains unspoiled". Also known as Mill Bay, Nanjizal beach draws tourists in for its warm turquoise waters and remote location, where pebbles turn into golden sands as you reach the waves.
TikTok has recently caught on - a video posted by sammys_sanctuary claimed it is the "best beach in the UK" and amassed more than 290,000 views, so now may be the best time to go before the masses discover it.
One social media user said: "Cornwall has the most beautiful beaches and the sea warms up in the summer months." Another added: “Hidden gems are the best!”.
The south-west coastal path graces past the beach, making Nanjizal a well-earned reward at the end of a rugged coastal walk, and it still enjoys relatively low footfall compared to some of its neighbours.
Those lucky enough may catch a sighting of bird species such as Chiffchaffs, Whitethroats, Blackcaps, and Bluefin Tuna swimming in the waters.
Travel experts from Parkdean Resorts commented: “Cornwall is home to many spectacular views and beaches, so it’s no surprise that it is trending on social media."
Parkdean also highlighted Porthcurno Beach as a beach worth visiting, which has more facilities than the secluded Nanjizal, with a car park and toilets.
A three-mile circular walk from Porthcurno to Penberth Cove passes through wartime tunnels, fishing spots and beautiful coves.
