Denis Arndt, the actor renowned for his unforgettable interrogation scene in Basic Instinct and roles in popular shows like Grey's Anatomy, Supernatural and LA Law, has passed away at 86, his family confirmed.

In a heartfelt statement, his family announced: "It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of our dad, Denis Leroy Arndt. He died peacefully in his bed in his beloved cabin home of almost 50 years in Ashland, Oregon; he wouldn't have had it any other way."

They further added: ""The year he was born, 1939, the Wizard of Oz came out showing the first movie in colour after Dorothy found Oz. That was like Dad's life.

It started out in black and white and blossomed into a life of colour, brilliance, daring adventure, and passion. And it was also a little bit trippy, like Oz.

"", reports the Mirror.

Following the news of his death, fans and colleagues alike took to social media to pay their respects. William Duffy, who had the pleasure of working with Arndt, posted on Twitter/X: "RIP Denis Arndt. -- So enjoyed working with you years ago in Thailand on "SNIPER 3" - as your partner in crime. Condolences to your lovely bride, Magee."

Tributes poured in for the esteemed character actor Denis Arndt, best known for his role alongside Michael Douglas in the thriller BASIC INSTINCT. A fan lamented: "Another prolific character actor now belongs to the Ages. Denis Arndt played loyal Lt. Phillip Walker opposite Michael Douglas' mercurial Det. Nick Curran in BASIC INSTINCT (1992). RIP..." While another expressed sadness, saying: "Sad news in Hollywood: Denis Arndt, the iconic actor who famously interrogated Sharon Stone in 'Basic Instinct', has passed away at 86. His memorable performances will be missed."

Before taking the stage and screen by storm, Arndt bravely served as a helicopter pilot in the Vietnam War and was commended with a Purple Heart and Commendation Medal.

His acting chops were not just for the silver screen; he earned high praise for portraying Alex Priest in the stage play Heisenberg.

Denis's death leaves behind his beloved wife Magee Downey, to whom he was married for 45 years, and their three offspring, Bryce, McKenna, and Tanner, plus four other children from a previous marriage.
