Meghan Markle made a blunt remark when she first spoke publicly about her relationship with Prince Harry. They met in London through friends in 2016 and have since faced challenges in the public eye.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex got married in 2018 and now share two children, five-year-old Archie and three-year-old Lilibet. However, the couple left the UK after stepping back from official royal duties in 2020 and have since launched various commercial ventures.

Meghan previously opened up about the increased attention and criticism that she's faced since meeting Harry. Showing her true colours in one blunt remark, she said: "I’ve never defined myself by my relationship." This highlights her fierce independence, both before and after getting into a relationship with King Charles's youngest son.

The former Suits actress later told Vanity Fair magazine: "It has its challenges, and it comes in waves – some days it can feel more challenging than others. And right out of the gate it was surprising the way things changed. But I still have this support system all around me, and, of course, my boyfriend’s support.”

She added: "We’re two people who are really happy and in love. We were very quietly dating for about six months before it became news, and I was working during that whole time, and the only thing that changed was people’s perception.

"Nothing about me changed. I’m still the same person that I am, and I’ve never defined myself by my relationship."

In 2022, Harry and Meghan launched a Netflix series to share their journey together. Meghan has also released a new series, With Love, Meghan, with the streaming giant this Spring.

The lifestyle and cookery series landed at number six in both the UK and US charts. However, the series was met with mixed reviews, it faced some negative criticism but others enjoyed following Meghan’s recipes and lifestyle tips.

Netflix co-chief executive officer Ted Sarandos previously described Harry and Meghan as “the jewels in our crown”. He hit back at the poor reviews, saying: “We’re a passive partner in Meghan’s company and it’s a big discovery model for us right now.”
