The first photos of one African airport's impressive new terminal have been revealed and Brits can fly to it in just three hours. Casablanca Mohammed V Airport in Morocco is set to expand with its new terminal set to open by 2029. As well as a sleek design, the huge new terminal will have a number of stand-out features. It comes as Morocco grows as an increasingly popular travel destination for many tourists, including British holidaymakers.

The North African country has a number of unique experiences to offer, such as camel rides in the desert and its historic cities. Casablanca is one of the country's go-to destinations for travelers, many of which will soon experience this brand-new airport terminal set to be unveiled in just four years' time. In the meantime, the National Airports Office of Morocco (ONDA) has shared some details about what passengers can expect from the new terminal, which will add to what is already Morocco's largest airport.

The terminal will be a H shape and will consist of three floors, also including a 3,700 metre runway and new control tower. There will also be a tree-lined green space in the terminal for passengers to enjoy before their flights.

Travellers will also be treated to a considerably large duty-free area as well as VIP lounges which will offer views of the runway. Developers have said that the architectural design of the new airport terminal has drawn inspiration from the Atlantic Ocean, which is evident in the curved, wave-like features of the building.

It will also take inspiration from classic Arab architecture. It is expected to have a capacity of 20 million passengers per year, which was decided based on projected travel numbers.

"This project is a true technical feat and an architectural masterpiece," ONDA said. "This modern infrastructure aims to strengthen intermodal transport and improve the passenger experience."

The new terminal will also feature an on-site hotel. There will also be direct access to the Kenitra-Marrakech high-speed rail line (LGV), meaning passengers flying into Casablanca will have easy access to other exciting Moroccan destinations.

The mock-up images have teased what passengers can expect when visiting the airport, including its clever use of light and high ceilings, as well as the trees and flora that will give the terminal a lovely dash of colour.
